The Babies Only offering is a one-semester introduction to Music Together® for the infant to crawler (0-9 mo.) and their parent/caregiver, after which the family enrolls in mixed-age classes. The music activities and materials are especially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in infants. The music in this collection especially appropriate for infants who are not yet mobile.
A group of six to twelve children and their parents and caregivers meet for 45 minutes each week to enjoy a variety of playful musical activities. The Music Together teacher guides the class through traditional and original songs and chants with a broad mix of tonalities, meters and cultural styles. A dozen experiences are included in each class including singing, small and large movement, instrument play, props, dancing, improvisation and more. The approach is fun and interactive and incorporates informal instruction, allowing the children to engage at their developmental level. It's a relaxed atmosphere that invites and encourages participation by both children and adults, regardless of musical skill, talent or training. In a Music Together class, families rediscover the pleasure and educational value of informal, homemade musical experiences. There are 9 collections of award-winning music for class enjoyment.
Music Together is an early childhood music and movement program that helps children develop their natural musical abilities by providing a rich, stimulating musical environment during the critical period between birth and eight years. Through exciting weekly classes, quality supporting materials and parent involvement, Music Together inspires families to bring music-making back into daily life, giving children the foundation for a lifetime of musical expression and enjoyment.
An innovator in the field, Music Together began as an educational project of the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, NJ. It pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement. It is now being taught nationally and Internationally. Mid-Hudson Music Together LLC offers classes in Poughkeepsie, Millbrook, High Falls, Beacon & New Paltz.
